Gracelings
Today My group was the first group to present in the round table discussion. I thought it went good especially for us to be the first group to go. We basically just discussed the book, and what we felt about it. I was kinda surprised because I really didn't understand how we truly had to write discussion questions. I felt like one question will kind of just lead to another question randomly, and it kind of did. I think I over analyzed it for sure. I think people telling Katsa that she's beautiful in the long run will help her self-confidence, but she has to start believing she is first. Every girl has there weak moments where they feel unattractive, but we also have our moments where we feel so beauty. Whether we are wearing our favorite color, favorite or new pair of fly heels. Some girls it only takes make-up for the to feel attractive. I know I feel cuter when I'm all dolled up with make up on and my hair done. I also think people do have an effect on girls and they way they look. Society shows us that girls wearing make up is pretty. Even though now there are adds with girls and their "natural" look, but even that natural look I'm sure they still have some form of make up on their face. They also don't show girls in magazines with sweat pants on and their hair looking all wild. Beauty will also play a role.

So, in what ways are these standards of beauty empowering and/or dis-empowering?
